Choosing Organic

Summer is a perfect time to enjoy an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables.
This delicious, fresh produce is fun to pick from our own gardens, buy from local farms, fruit stands and farmers’ markets.

This list of produce is a guide to avoid the most highly contaminated with pesticides and chemicals. Buy organic, when possible.

  1. Thin-skinned tree fruits such as apples, peaches, pears, apricots, cherries, nectarines, and plums.
  2. Berries such as strawberries and raspberries
  3. Sweet and hot peppers
  4. Lettuce and spinach
  5. Celery
  6. Potatoes
  7. Grapes (imported)
  8. Carrots
  9. Green beans
  10. Cucumbers
